Proposal In

Well after what seems like a solid month of work where I didn't get any sleep or time with my kids, I've completed and submitted my Track A proposal for the DARPA Urban Challenge. The culmination was a solid 36 hours of writing and annoying my wife the editor to death. She may not forgive me for trying to get her to wring out every last bit of fluff so I could include some cool Visio drawings. Then I couldn't resist filling it up with more information dense verbiage. (They only allowed 10 pages for the Technical Proposal, and let me tell you that's pretty darn hard if you have a lot to say.) I also think my kidneys are annoyed with me about the caffeine, but they'll get over it. Now admittedly, I still think it's a longshot that I'll be getting a million bucks from DARPA to build a car, but writing it was a learning experience. I can now tell you in detail how FAR contracts work and exactly what it means when they say "Government Use Rights". I also now have a good handle on how much IP lawyers make, (I'm thinking about switching careers after this project if I can stand to be close enough to lawyers long enough to get a degree in it.) I noticed that y'all are shopping around for a project. Interesting co-incidence. Unfortunately what I have in mind isn't quite building backyard toys for fun, rather I'm envisioning getting filthy rich selling killbots to the army, which promises to be very, very hard work.

Well, that's a mess. I promise that when I wrote it, there were paragraph breaks. And now I find to help information on the website telling me what secret codes are used to put in line breaks.
